UNDER EIGHTS WIN
Llanharan 11 5 Treherbert

We were fortunate that the heavy rain that was forecasted held off during our game against an energetic Treherbert. It was another gutsy performance from the young black and blues team which included Ajay, Cameron, Dylan, Elliott, Harley, Jacob, Kai, Luke, Mason, Regan, Reuben and Scott. The side gave a warm welcome and a big thanks to three players who played up from the unders 7's - they were Harley, Kai and Scott who gave their all in this game.

The game was played at great speed and the young black and blues defensive play was excellent resulting in a lot of turn over ball. Tries in the first half were scored by Ajay (2), Elliott, Luke, Mason and Regan with reherbert scoring 2 of their own tries.

In the second half Treherbert came back fighting and broke away scoring a further 3 tries. The boys remained composed and through supporting team play scored 5 tries through Dylan, Elliott (2), Luke and Cameron, scoring his first try of the season.

Trophies were awarded to Cameron for scoring his first try, Jacob for defender of the week, Dylan and Mason. Thanks to Treherbert for the friendly spirit in which the game was played, to all the parents for their continued support and a special thanks and warm welcome to Harley, Kai and Scott for stepping up and helping us out. We are looking forward to you joining us full time next season. We would also like to extend our thanks to our score master Jiffy aka Paul Lewis.

Tondu 2v4 Llanharan

After not having a game last week we turned up at Tondu with the boys chomping at the bit, hoping to give their mams a late present on Mothering Sunday, and they didn't disappoint, with a brilliant display of tagging keeping a good Tondu team at bay.We then went on the attack scoring some good tried in the process through, Dylan his first, Elliot 2 and Luke, but the whole team were outstanding in Ajay, Eoin, Louis, Jacob, Cameron and Regan who had defender of the week and was captain. Dylan had skill of the day, and Elliot had man of the match.
Many thanks to Tondu for a warm welcome and a good game.

Valley Ravens 1v 3 Llanharan
Onto the second game against a Valley Ravens team who were short on numbers but were a very dangerous team. The boys’ tagging was still outstanding from the off, and the attacking rugby was just as good with the tries being scored by Luke,  Elliot and Eoin. But back came the Ravens with a good tries of their own. But credit to the whole team were brilliant today in, Ajay, Cameron, Dylan, Louis, Jacob and Regan.
Many thanks to the Ravens for a good game, and as always thanks for the support of all parents today. Keep up the good work boys.

Llanharan 9 v 2 Bryncethin

An Outstanding Team Performance by Under 8s

It's been a while since the team has played on home turf and with the sun shining on us the game began. With a slightly earlier KO the young black and blues gave their all against a very good Bryncethin team. The game was played at a fast pace and the boys were well organised scoring 5 tries to 1 in the first half ( Elliot 2, Luke 2 and Eoin). The boys remained focused in the second half and proceeded to scorer a further 4 tries (Elliot, Mason ,Luke and Regan). All credit to the whole team (Ajay, Dylan, Elliot, Eoin, Jacob, Luke, Louis, Mason and Regan),who were outstanding in defence and the supportive play was brilliant which resulted in the score line. Defender of the week was awarded to Elliot and player of the week went to the whole team as every player on the pitch deserved it.

Thanks to Bryncethin for the friendly way in which the game was played and to all parents for your continued support. A special thanks to Richie for helping out again and to Paul jiffy Lewis for keeping the score.

Keep up the good work boys you are all Stars.

Llanharan 4v4 Valley Ravens

It was a cold and wet Sunday morning as we travelled to Maesteg Celtic. On arrival we were told that the Celtic didn't have an U8s, and would be playing the Valley Ravens. This was our second encounter with a strong Ravens team this season. As the game started the heavens opened and rain soaked the boys, although cold and wet both teams played well. The Ravens defensive line was tight and the black+blues were denied a number of tries by just being tagged before the try line. The boys had to dig deep as at half time, the score was 3-1 to the Ravens, with Eoin scoring the first try for Llanharan. After a short break the boys regrouped and came back fighting having some good tags and holding the defensive line and coming back to equal the Ravens on the score sheet 4v4, our tries scored by Louis,Luke and Regan. All credit to the rest of the team which included, Ajay,Cameron,Dylan,Eoin,Jacob,Luke,Louis who had player of the week,Regan, and Mason who had defender of the week, for their hard work. Thanks again for Richie for helping to sort the team out.And thanks to the Valley Ravens for the good spirit in which the game was played in.
And as always Thanks to all parents for braving the Elements as always.

Bridgend Sports/Llantwit Major 15 - 15 Llanharan u7s RFC

Today we travelled the short distance for a round robin against 2 well organised teams, All teams played well today with some very impressive tagging and even better running with ball in hand and fast offloading.

Llanharan did very well in both defence and attack, with some of the best tagging i have seen all season and just goes to show their hard work in training is paying off, The speed that Llanharan were showing to work from one end of the field to another was also very impressive, the quickness of the offloading after being tagged even got the attention of our opponents’ coaches who were also very impressed.

Thanks everyone who attended see you all Tuesday.

Special mention to today’s:
Defender of the Week: Soloman Ellis; Player of the Week: Bleddyn Poole,

4-3 to Sports

Our game today was to be played on a 3G pitch at Archbishop McGrath RC Comprehensive school in Brackla, for a round robin against Bridgend Sports and Llantwit Major. With a depleted squad due to sickness and holidays we had to borrow two players from the U7's Ioan and Cai. Although new to the team the boys were given a warm welcome by all the U8's and they played brilliantly for both games getting tags and having good runs and Ioan scoring his debut try.

The first game against the Sports was an end to end affair, with the boys starting to play some good rugby towards the end of the game and just coming up short our tries were scored by Eoin (2) and Ioan, the final score 4-3 to the Sports.

5-2 to Llanharan v Llantwit Major

Soon as the final whistle went the boys had a quick drink and regrouped to play Llantwit Major. The boys now were playing some very good rugby and supportive play scoring good tries and getting sets of defensive tags in the process. The tries were scored by Eoin, and Regan (4), with Llantwit Major getting 2 tries of their own. Today all players were outstanding in, Cameron, Cai, Dylan, Eoin, Ioan, Jacob,Mason and Regan.

All the U8's would like to give a special thanks to Cai and Ioan for stepping up and helping us out, well done boys we hope you enjoyed it. Thanks to Richie for help with the coaching today, and thanks to all parents as always.

We'd like to also extend our thanks to Bridgend Sports and Llantwit Major for the friendly welcome and atmosphere in which both games were played in.

Llantwit Fadre 4 v 8 Llanharan

We arrived at Llantwit Fadre with the intension of playing them, Deri and Abercomboi in a round robin. Prior to the kick off we were told that Abercwmboi hadn't turned up and Deri were yet to arrive. So the black and blues played Llantwit who had two teams. It was nice to get some game time as of late due to the weather we have not had much chance to train or play. In the first game we played a very good Llantwit team who were very quick out of the blocks, but the boys came together and played some very good rugby, scoring some good tries through Ajay1, Elliot 4, Eoin 1, Luke 1and Regan 1. We had a very good set of defensive tags as Llantwit started to come back at us, but credit goes to the whole team who gave their all Ajay, Dylan in his first game and had man of the match well done, Eoin, Elliot, Jacob, Luke, Mason, Regan, Reuben.

Llantwit Fadre 9 v Llanharan 5

After a short break our small squad played their second game against a big Llantwit squad , by now the boys were shattered as we only had 1 sub for both these games and after giving their all in the first game the boys were burnt out. All credit to our boys they stuck at it all game and never gave up against another good Llantwit team, with tries going to, Ajay 1, Eoin 3 and Luke 1. Although we are a small squad the boys put their heart and soul into every game, well done boys you are all stars.

Many thanks to Llantwit Fadre's U8 for hosting us a warm welcome, and as always thanks to all parents for braving the cold.

Combined Score:
Llantwit Fadre 13v Llanharan 13

Valley Ravens 4 v 6 Llanharan

As the wet weather finally held off the Black and Blues played against the Valley Ravens at Treherbert. It was our first game since the beginning of December and although it was a bitterly cold morning the team came together to triumph against what was a well organised Valley Ravens team. The boys scored some good tries through Luke (2), Elliot, Louis (player of the week) Regan and Jacob, the defence by the team was good with Ajay tagging one of the Valley Ravens just before their try line which resulted in him achieving defender of the week. Despite not having any training sessions or game time due to the weather we have had of late the boys did well to achieve this win, well done boys ( Ajay, Cameron, Elliot, Eoin, Jacob, Louis, Luke, Mason, Regan and Ruben). Thanks to Treherbert for your warm welcome and to the Valley Ravens for the good spirt that the game was played in and as always thanks to all parents for braving the cold weather your support and commitment is greatly appreciated by the coaching team. I would like to give a special thank to Paul Lewis for keeping the scores today.
